Balearic Islands, share the experience

Always open to the traveller but, at the same time, retaining its identity, the Balearics are to live in and to be experienced any time of the year. Bordered by the most stunning coves and beaches of the Mediterranean, these islands, which were pioneers of the boom of tourism as a social phenomenon, have reached exceptional maturity as a holiday destination which allows them to be a point of reference for the tourism industry worldwide.

Three basic elements support the Balearic Islands in the XXI century as a centre of attraction for travellers: its beautiful coast line and inland, its easy accessibility, at just an average of two hours away from the main European capitals, and the quality of life offered to those who choose the islands.

The Balearics mean variety is on offer and experienced service, with the holiday industry on the islands having over half a century of experience, which guarantees every expectation of the visitor, and that the quality offered in its sites is
without competition.
We know that the best advertising for the island is that which provides satisfaction to the customer. “The best trip –said Marcel Proust– is the one that you relive in your memory”. Enjoyment and word of mouth turns out to be essential for the success of a holiday destination, and probably, the best test is the willingness of going back to that destination. Nearly 75% of tourism on the islands are returning visitors, which is practically unique for a holiday destination. Tourists that come back, become in many cases temporal or permanent residents of the island with time, which is a good sign of success.

Tourists have also become more experienced, demanding, hard to please and have new tools available like the Internet and low cost airlines. New challenges are to be converted into new opportunities, in order for the destination to be able to fulfil their expectations, and Majorca is definitely the right answer. European standard health services, proper infrastructures in continuous improvement, the weather, protected natural environment, golf, water sports, inland tourism and an ancient culture. All these ingredients combine so the flavour of life in our islands can be enjoyed. This special supplement of El Diario de Mallorca is an excellent example of these ingredients.
